Sweet Tooth
This idea came to mind because I love ocean creatures and donuts are one of my all time favourite treats! I also love watching nature documentaries, and from one of them I learned that the narwhal tusk is actually a really long tooth (thank you David Attenborough!) And so, the title was born, which I thought was absolutely hilarious.
Not only is this painting a fun play on "ring toss," but it also expresses a bigger message that I like to include in most of my art of loving and better co-existing with the ocean creatures that we share this life with.
This painting was an idea in my head for a long time, but was finally created for the “Bliss” show at Northern Contemporary Gallery in Toronto, Aug 2024. I hope that it puts a smile on people’s faces, especially those who find bliss (like me) in a sweet treat!
