Fried Egg Jelly

I love marine biology and I love watching nature documentaries, and from one of them I learned about the fried egg jellyfish (thank you David Attenborough) and thought that they were just brilliant. Fast forward to a few months ago when I was frying an egg, this jellyfish popped into my head and this funny little idea was born! Not only does this painting show the obvious and fun similarities between the egg and the jellyfish, but it also expresses a bigger message that I like to include in most of my art of loving and better co-existing with the ocean creatures that we share this life with.

I pushed myself really hard with this one and it was a LOT more work than I ever imagined, but it was so worth it!

This painting was an idea in my head for a a few months, but was finally created for the “Bliss” show at Northern Contemporary Gallery in Toronto, Aug 2024. I hope that it puts a smile on people’s faces, especially those who find bliss (like me) in cooking!

6" x 8" acrylic painting on cradled wood panel. Artwork is ready to hang.
